winter gardening

Bulb plants like Paper Whites and Amaryllis satisfy a woman’s need for gardening in the winter. I bought an Amaryllis bulb in my favorite local flower shop in Brookline last weekend. On the average, it takes 6-8 weeks from potting to flowering. With that in mind, you can time it to bloom for a special occasion. I read up on how to pot it but the florist recommended I pot it the same as you would a Paper White. Well, we shall see.
You’ll Need
- Amaryllis Bulb (Look for a bulb that hasn’t sprouted many roots)
- Potting Stones
- Terra cotta pot or another container (no holes in the bottom)
- Moss (I used Reindeer Moss
