framed door art

framed doors

My husband and I try to give each other thoughtful gifts rather than expensive gifts. For Christmas last year I gave this picture frame to him. It’s got a picture of the front door of every house we’ve lived in together. The last picture is of the architecture plan of our front door of our current house. Once it’s finished I will replace it with a real picture.

I’m sick of changing the toliet paper roll. So I just said it’s not worth my time and I’ve abandoned the silly tradition, who says you need one anyway? This option also avoids those precarious situtations when you find yourself reaching for an empty roll.

earth day: seedlings in trash

seedlings in recyclables

In celebration of earth day today, I’ve planted some seedlings in containers I pulled out of my recycle bin. One last use before they hit the recycling center.

recycled cards

recycled cards

I get the most beautiful cards from my friends and family. A card is too beautiful to have a short life. I recycle card fronts and remake them into cards of my own and share the beauty as well as save a tree.

spring plant shopping

lettuce walker farm

This past weekend we spent in sunny & warm Vermont. We visited Walker Farm to check out the spring plants. I didn’t buy anything (due to construction like conditions around my house) however I got some great ideas and I CAN’T WAIT TILL THE LAST FROST!

irish wool

I finally broke out the yarn I bought in Ireland. It reminded me of this cool window display in the shop where I bought it.

lobster gram

lobster gram

When our friend Joe came to visit us, prior to his arrival, he sent us a Lobster Gram. The lobster tails come all cut up nicely in frozen little bags. All the yum with none of the work.

an irish welcome

irish greeting

While in Ireland I bought this door marker. Cead Mile Failte is Gaelic for “One Hundred Thousand Welcomes.” I love the meaning, such a great way to greet our house guests.

beaded flower necklace

I’m not big into jewelry making but I do like to make the occasional necklace, especially if it’s this easy. All I did was string craft wire thru four beads to make a flower. I attached it to a chain I already had (I wish I would have had a gold one).

photo editing in photoshop

I’m a part of a quilters club in town. We meet every month and play “show and tell” as well as share tips, tricks and techniques. Last month I brought in a photo quilt for show and tell. After a brief diddy about how I edit photos before printing them, they asked me for this month’s mtg to do a quick demo/preview of Photoshop. Here’s the handout that I gave everyone.
