In combination with eHow and the recipe on my new artichoke steamer holder thinging… I gave it a whirl… and yummie yummie yummie.

Slice off the top of the artichoke.
Trim the points from the leaves, removing the very lowest ones while leaving the stem. Place artichoke on cooker stand in a deep kettle with the small circle upright. Add enough water to immerse the stem but not the base, along with a squeeze of lemon juice and a dash of salt.

Bring to a boil. Cover and steam 35 to 40 minutes. Artichoke is done when a lower leaf can be pulled off with ease. Cut off stem before serving. Allow one per person. I dipped the leaves in a caramelized onion mayo from Whole Foods.
